Crossroads Education offers a variety of school holiday workshops designed to empower learners and enhance their educational experience. These workshops are designed for students at various stages of their learning journey as well as for teachers seeking professional development, and even for parents. The exact content of these workshops evolves each holiday period based on demand and interest, to ensure that the Crossroads team is providing relevant and engaging topics that resonate with learners and address the unique needs of the learning community. For Students

Study Gym 
The Study Gym program is specifically crafted for Year 9 and 10 students. This engaging introduction to study skills equips participants with essential tools and strategies to improve their academic performance. Through interactive sessions, students will learn effective time management skills, note-taking techniques, and exam preparation strategies, all within a supportive and motivating group environment. The Study Gym workshop is supplemented by the Study Gym learning resource, created by Dr Bricknell, and is available for purchase (visit the Resources page for more information).

Intensive Study Skills
Designed specifically for Year 11 students transitioning into Year 12, the Intensive Study Skills program focuses on advanced study techniques, critical thinking, and stress management strategies. Tailored to meet the demands of senior schooling, students will leave with a personalised action plan to help them thrive in their final year.

University Preparation

Prepare for the transition to university with the Crossroads University Preparation workshop. This session covers essential skills such as time management, study strategies, and understanding academic expectations, helping students feel confident and ready for their next academic chapter.

Getting Ready for High School

The Getting Ready for High School workshop is designed for students moving from primary to secondary education. Participants will explore the differences between school environments, develop organisational skills, and learn how to manage their time effectively to ensure a smooth transition.

Creative Writing

Unleash your imagination in the Creative Writing workshop! This interactive session encourages students to explore various writing styles and techniques, helping them craft compelling stories and express their ideas creatively.

Public Speaking

Build confidence and effective communication skills in the Crossroads Public Speaking workshop. Participants will learn essential techniques for delivering engaging presentations, managing anxiety, and connecting with an audience, all while practising in a supportive environment.

Academic Writing

Designed for aspiring university students, the Academic Writing workshop focuses on developing advanced writing skills essential for success at the university level. Participants will learn how to construct well-researched essays, develop arguments, and cite sources correctly, ensuring they are fully prepared for academic challenges ahead.

This interactive workshop aims to develop educators' understanding and teaching of the Crossroads Education Grammar Toolbox, a comprehensive resource that simplifies key concepts of English grammar. Participants will explore engaging teaching strategies, share best practices, and gain hands-on experience with activities that make grammar fun and accessible for students. The Grammar Toolbox and the Grammar Toolbox: Second Edition are resources created by Dr Bricknell and are available for purchase (see the Resources page for more information).
